DCRC’s “Coral Kids Playgroup” aims to provide children aged 2 – 5 years the opportunity to meet other children in a play baseddevelopmental environment and for parents/carers to establish support networks.
Playgroup has a co-ordinator’s position which is voluntary and filled by one of the attending parents. Because the position is voluntary, there is no onus of responsibility to the parents or children. The role of the co-ordinator is really to oversee the running of the playgroup and welcome new families.
DCRC has a fantastic outside play area which is completely under cover and stays cool all year round. Outside, the children enjoy the climbing frame, water trough, sand pit as well as the ride-on toys, cars and cubby house. Inside, we regularly run structured craft activities as well as colouring in. The children can also enjoy the variety of toys including muscial instruments, dressing up costumes, toys, books and DVDs.
Parents and carers assist with:
- Signing attendance book and paying dues
- Setting up toys and activities
- Chopping up morning tea and setting up urn, tea, coffee, cups etc
- Supervising morning tea for the children
- Supervising all children during playtime
- Clean up and pack up
At playgroup, parents and carers stay and play with the children and help them socialise with other children. Everyone’s participation makes it work. Come along and share experiences, learn from each other and make new friends.

Every Wednesday and Friday (INCLUDING School Holidays, but excluding public holidays) from 9:30am – 12pm.
Cost:
$4 per family. Please bring a piece of fruit for the children to share at Morning Tea time. A plate for the parents to share is optional but encouraged!
