Defence Community Organisation
On behalf of Army, Navy and the Air Force the Defence Community Organisation (DCO) offers a broad range of programs and services to support ADF families in balancing military life with personal and family commitments.
DCO Cairns assists Defence families in meeting the challenges of the military way of life by providing support at times of crisis, building skills and connecting them with their local communities. We work with Defence families and community organisations and groups to develop projects, ideas and initiatives which help build a strong, connected and resilient Defence community.
Our team is staffed by Social workers, a Military Support Officer, Regional Education Liaison Officer, Family Liaison Officer and Administration Officer who can help you and your family with a range of services including:
Crisis/Emergency support
- Intervention and referral for personal and family problems
- Relationship counselling
- Information and referral to local services and facilities
- Education advice and assistance
- Employment assistance
- Child Care
- Health concerns
- Information on general Defence matters
- Remote Area Visits – Weipa, Thursday Island & Mt Isa

The DCO Cairns office is located at 3 Jensen Street, Manoora. Our office hours are 0830 – 1700 Monday to Friday.
